Browsing the Marketplace

Pamusika’s marketplace is where Zimbabwean farmers and buyers connect. Whether you are looking for fresh tomatoes, a bag of maize, or farming equipment, here is how to find what you need.

The Marketplace Screen

When you open Pamusika, the marketplace is your main screen. You will see:

• A search bar at the top to find specific products
• Category tabs to browse by product type (Produce, Livestock, Equipment, etc.)
• A grid of listings showing photos, prices, seller names, and locations
• Featured listings highlighted with a gold border and star badge

Each listing card shows you the key details at a glance:

• Product photo (or a category icon if no photo was uploaded)
• Title of the product
• Price with currency and unit (e.g., USD 0.48 / kg)
• Quantity available
• Location of the seller
• Seller name with a green checkmark if they are verified
• Time badge showing how recently it was posted (e.g., “2h ago”)

Searching for Products

1. Tap the search bar at the top of the marketplace screen.

2. Type what you are looking for, such as “tomatoes”, “maize”, or “tractor parts”.

3. Results appear automatically as you type. Pamusika searches product titles and descriptions.

4. To clear your search, tap the X button inside the search bar.

Note

Pamusika remembers your recent searches so you can quickly find products you looked for before.

Browsing by Category

Below the search bar, you will see category tabs you can scroll through horizontally. Tap a category to filter listings:

All

Shows every active listing on the marketplace.

Produce

Fresh fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes, and onions.

Livestock

Cattle, goats, chickens, and other animals.

Equipment

Farming tools, tractors, sprayers, and parts.

Categories may change as new product types are added to the marketplace. The selected category is highlighted in green.

Sorting Listings

Tap the sort button (arrow icon) next to the search bar to choose how listings are ordered:

Sort Option	What It Does
Newest First	Shows the most recently posted listings at the top. This is the default.
Price: Low to High	Shows the cheapest listings first. Useful when you are looking for the best deal.
Price: High to Low	Shows the most expensive listings first.
Nearest	Shows listings closest to your location first. Only available when location is enabled.

Location-Based Browsing

Pamusika can show you listings near your location and display the distance to each seller.

1. Tap the location button (arrow/navigate icon) next to the search bar.

2. If it is your first time, Pamusika will ask for permission to access your location. Tap Allow.

3. Once enabled, each listing card shows the distance to the seller (e.g., “3.2 km” or “15 km”).

4. Tap the location button again to sort by distance, showing the nearest listings first. The button turns green when distance sorting is active.

5. Tap it once more to switch back to the default sort order.

Tip

Location-based browsing is especially useful if you want to buy produce nearby to reduce transport costs.

Viewing Product Details

Tap any listing card to open the full product detail page. Here you will find:

• Full-size photos that you can swipe through and tap to zoom in
• Product title and price with a “Negotiable” badge if the seller accepts offers
• Quantity available and stock level indicators (e.g., “Low stock” or “Last one”)
• Product description with full details about the item
• Seller information including their name, verification status, reviews, and other listings
• Location of the product
• Transportation options such as pickup, delivery, or buyer-arranged transport
• Payment methods the seller accepts
• Harvest date if the seller has provided it
• Similar listings from the same seller
• Recommended listings from other sellers in the same category

From the detail page, you can:

• Tap the heart icon to save the listing to your favourites
• Tap the share icon to send the listing to someone via WhatsApp or other apps
• Tap Message Seller to start a conversation
• Tap Make an Offer if the price is negotiable
• Tap the report flag if something looks wrong with the listing

Offline Browsing

Pamusika caches listings you have viewed so you can browse even when your internet connection drops. When you are viewing cached content, you will see a badge indicating the data is from cache and how old it is.

Caution

Prices and availability may have changed since the listing was cached. Reconnect to the internet and pull down to refresh for the latest information.

Guest Browsing

You can browse the marketplace without creating an account. As a guest, you will see a “Guest” badge in the header and a banner inviting you to sign up.

Guest users can:

• Browse all listings
• Search and filter products
• View product details

To save listings, message sellers, or post your own products, you will need to create a free account.
