Identity Verification

Verification helps build trust in the Pamusika marketplace. When you verify your identity, you earn a badge that shows other users you are a real person. Verified sellers get more responses and stand out in search results.

Verification tiers

Pamusika uses a two-tier verification system. Each tier builds on the previous one.

Tier 0: Unverified

This is the default state for all new accounts. You can still buy, sell, and message other users, but you will not have a verification badge.

Tier 1: Photo Verified

Complete a selfie verification to prove you are a real person. You will earn a camera badge on your profile.

Tier 2: ID Verified

Upload a government-issued ID to fully verify your identity. You will earn a green checkmark badge — the highest trust level on Pamusika.

Note

You must complete Tier 1 (Photo Verification) before you can start Tier 2 (ID Verification).

How to verify: Photo Verification (Tier 1)

1. Open the Verification screen

   From your Profile screen, navigate to Settings > Verification, or tap any verification prompt in the app.

2. Review the requirements

   You will see the photo verification intro screen with the following requirements:

   • Face clearly visible
   • Good lighting
   • No sunglasses or face coverings
   • Look directly at the camera

3. Take your selfie

   Tap Open Camera to launch the camera with a timestamp overlay. The app takes a timestamped photo to confirm the selfie is taken in real time.

4. Preview and submit

   Review your photo. If you are happy with it, tap Submit. If not, tap Retake to try again.

5. Wait for review

   Your photo is uploaded securely and submitted for review. You will receive a notification once the review is complete.

How to verify: ID Verification (Tier 2)

1. Complete Tier 1 first

   ID Verification is locked until your Photo Verification has been approved. If Tier 1 is still pending, wait for approval before proceeding.

2. Select your ID type

   Choose from the following accepted documents:

   • National ID — Zimbabwe national identity card
   • Passport — Valid passport
   • Driver’s Licence — Valid driver’s licence

3. Capture the front of your ID

   Take a photo or choose an image from your gallery. Tips for a good photo:

   • Place the ID on a flat, dark surface
   • Ensure all corners are visible
   • Avoid glare and shadows
   • Make sure text is readable

4. Capture the back (optional)

   Adding the back of your ID can help speed up the review process. You can skip this step if your ID only has one side (such as a passport).

5. Review your submission

   Check that the ID type and images are correct. You will see a summary of what you are about to submit.

6. Submit for verification

   Tap Submit for Verification. Your documents are uploaded securely and submitted for review.

Verification status

You can check your verification status at any time from the Verification screen. Each tier shows one of the following statuses:

Status	Meaning
Not started	You have not submitted verification for this tier yet.
Pending	Your submission is under review. You will be notified when it is complete.
Verified	Your verification has been approved. Your badge is active.
Rejected	Your submission was not approved. You will see the reason and can try again.

What happens if verification is rejected?

If your submission is rejected, you will see the reason on the Verification screen. Common reasons include:

• Photo is blurry or too dark
• Face is not clearly visible
• ID document is expired or unreadable
• Image does not match the ID type selected

You can resubmit after addressing the issue. There is a cooldown period between attempts, and a maximum number of attempts per tier. If you exhaust all attempts, contact support for help.

Caution

If you reach the maximum number of attempts, you will see a message asking you to contact support. Do not create a new account — reach out to the Pamusika team and they will help you.

Privacy and security

Your verification documents are handled with care:

• Documents are securely uploaded over an encrypted connection.
• Your ID is reviewed by the Pamusika team and automatically deleted after verification.
• Your ID details are never shared with other users, buyers, or sellers.
• Only the verification badge (Photo Verified or ID Verified) is visible on your profile.
